Well, it's pretty bad that you are almost 2 1/2 years old and I am just now posting your birthday! I'm not sure how I feel about this blogging thing......BUT I love looking back at old post and reading things I know I would have forgotten. Guess I'll keep on truckin'!
Melody, you are not the typical 2 year old. Atleast at this stage you weren't. Everyone always calls it the terrible twos. I was like, "No way"! These are the terrific twos! You were sooo easy and sweet and everything was just bliss. Now that you are almost 2 1/2 we are starting to test the boundaries a tad bit but it still really isn't that bad!
The 23 month old pic. Sweet little girl. One of the silly things you did at this stage was go "TT" in the potty any chance you got. You still love to do this and we have still yet to train you. Soon enough:) One of your phrases that you liked to say was, "Daddy, where are you"? It was a pretty big deal at the time cause speech was a little hard. You really like to mumble your words together and do not like to pronunciate unless we make you say it one word at a time. More on that later!
As soon as you woke up on your birthday we started pulling out the presents. We really didn't do much cause we already have so many things from when Addison was 2. So, we just got you around 3 gifts and you were as happy as can be! Too many toys really start to stress me out and kinda make me panick. All the small pieces and having to deal with the meltdowns when one of the pieces goes missing. I would LOVE to find a kid that doesn't have any toys and tell them to come on over and go shopping!
Check out the bed head! Tearing into your own present. You were pretty excited. Not sure you totally understood it was your birthday but I'm almost positive you will by next year. You and Addison constantly practice the whole birthday thing with Melissa and Doug cake and picking out toys in the playroom to give as your presents. It's pretty cute.
We got you these cool alphabet stackable blocks. As of right now, we are only missing one of the blocks. A miracle.
We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast and put the candles in it. You were a PRO at blowing out your candles this year. We were really amazed by that. It was so funny cause you would patiently wait all through the song and as soon as we stopped singing you would immediately blow them out.
Birthday hugs from Sister. Anytime someone has a birthday Addison gets really into it and basically caters to that person. Making sure they have everything they need. Their drink of choice, plates, napkins, cake, etc. She is sooo very polite and is really good with manners. A great role model for Melody!
This was another one of your presents. It actually was Addison's when she was your age but as soon as her accident happened, we majorly baby proofed the house and the trampoline made a nice trip up to the attic. Well, we figured it was time to pull it down. You are sooo physical and love to jump and roll and dance and Addison could benefit from it too. At this point she was still learning how to jump again and couldn't quite get her feet off the ground. This trampoline has been amazing and she is now jumping on her own! Still working on some height and bending knees when we land. So the trampoline is right in the middle of the playroom and y'all have thoroughly enjoyed it. Y'all love to play "mac mac". It's a game y'all came up with where you just kinda lay on top of eachother on the trampoline and say "mac mac" while laughing a lot. Whatever keeps y'all happy!
Melody, you use that bar like a gymnast bar and just do flips and hang upside down on it like a possum. It's the funniest thing!
One of the problems has been sharing. It can get kinda crammed with the two of you on there and we have had to take lots of turns.
That afternoon we just wanted to do something that we knew you would love. That is being outside. We stayed out for hour blowing bubbles, having a picnic, swinging, playing in the sandbox. It was your kinda day.
Y'all love this bubble blower!
Addison wore this shirt on her 2nd birthday so I felt the need to put it on you. I don't know why but I feel like I need to keep up with traditions like that. I know I shouldn't though. Maybe it's because I know we are done with the baby making and this will be my last chance to put it on my 2 year old. Kinda sad:(
Playing playdough with Daddy. LOVES doing this and making "worms". You always grab them immediately when they ooze out of the thing.
Addison making herself a mustache with the play dough.
Picnic time! Y'all did so great with this. Makes me want to do it more often. When Spring gets here we will.
Chocolate cake time! I made your cake for your actual birthday. Mrs. Whittenburg does them for the parties.
Blowing out another candle:) Look at those sweet eyes.
You were pretty serious about it. We don't mess around with cake!
We opened some gifts from my Aunts and Uncles that night and Aunt Cynthia won favorite present by far! It was this Hallmark dog that sings Twinkle Twinkle Little Star when you press the button on its foot. OH MY GOSH. Obsessed with it. Like, we had to play it over and over and over! It was your favorite things combined. Stuffed animals, a puppy, and music.
See the JOY on your face? Happy Birthday Sweet Melody Rose! I wish I could freeze this moment so much. You are my little Koala Bear and definitely a momma's girl. You really don't want anything to do with anybody else and are always in my arms. I love it!!! I am soaking it up cause I know Pre-K will be here in a blink of an eye. I have loved every second and you will always be my baby!! We love you!!
