It's Snowing!

You know what I love most about kids?  Their innocence and complete honesty.  They see something a certain way and they will tell you all about it and what they think.  I love that truth.  I love that they don't tip toe around feelings and say something that they don't really mean.  If you really want to know the truth about something, ask a 2 1/2 year old!  Ok, so my point is this--- The other day Addison was in the bathroom with me while I was getting dressed.  She was standing by the tub where the sun was  shining in at the perfect angle through our blinds.  All of a sudden she shouted out, "It's SNOWING"!  I said, "Addison, that was a few weeks ago.  It's not snowing today.  It is 70 degrees."  She kept insisting until I looked over and realized what was going on.  She was watching the dust particles float all over our bathroom!  In her defense it really did look like snow.  In my defense I have absolutely no time to clean!  My Mom helps me out A LOT when she comes over and it had been awhile since she had gotten to hang out at our house.  HA!  So, guess what we did that Saturday night until 12 AM?  Yep, I took the hint and we cleaned the house from top to bottom.  Good, clean weekend FUN!

Showing off her moves during dance party!

I love this pic of her goldie locks!

Well, Melody's 6 month appointment was a success!  She weighed in at 14 lbs. 12 oz. (25%) and her height was 26 inches (50%).  We got our shots and we were on our way.  We talked a little about starting solids and when to do everything.  It's funny how quickly you forget how to do all of that.  I wish I had kept a record of what I had done with Addison.  I feel like it was yesterday when we were buying all of this baby food for her but I forget all of the little details of what we did.  Thank goodness for blogging!  It's the ultimate documentation:)
This may seem like a weird picture but it is all of the frozen milk that I had to throw away.  Let me explain........When you have a child that has a peanut allergy, they recommend that all nursing moms not eat peanut products so that the second child has a lesser chance of developing the allergy as well.  They aren't sure this is how they get it but they recommend total avoidance.  Therefore, this is all the milk I had pumped before starting to avoid peanut products.  At the time I was only pumping here and there and this was about 3 months worth.  It may crush some people to get rid of this liquid gold but I was just fine knowing that I was doing the best thing for Melody.  I have been able to replace twice the amount of this milk so that makes me feel good.  Although we don't really give bottles, we will be using the frozen milk for rice cereal.
Dad had knee surgery a few weeks ago and Addison has been very concerned about his "bo bo's."  When we go to Ruston she likes to visit him at the store. Here they are riding around on Pop's scooter.  (Pop was my grandfather).  This sucker can fly!  They were all over that parking lot and Addison was constantly laying on the horn.
We took a trip to Monroe that weekend to say hi to Nona.  She was so excited to see the girls.  The trip was pretty easy so I hope we will be able to visit more often.  Every time I step foot into her house I instantly revert back to my childhood.  It is such a comforting feeling and I CRAVE cream of wheat and cinnamon toast when I walk into her kitchen.  I really, really miss those days.

Melody is really starting to love her cereal!  Once she spots that spoon her mouth opens so wide!  We will be starting green beans this week.  Hopefully she will like veggies as much as her big sis!

Happy 6 Months Melody!

Oh Melody Rose........are you really 1/2 a year old?  Seriously??  I believe I remind myself and your Daddy everyday to "soak it up".  This time will fly by and you never really understand that until you watch your first born grow up.  Because I saw it happen with Addison, I feel that I am trying to be more in the moment and lay back and enjoy things more.  You are just a little bundle of joy and still the easiest little baby.  So very laid back and HAPPY!  You have been consistently sleeping through the night for 3 weeks (THANK YOU FERBER).  You go to bed every night between 7 and 7:30 (the same as Addison) and we just lay you down and tell you it's time to go night night.  You will talk for maybe 2 minutes and then you are out until 7:30 the next morning!  You take 2 naps a day.  Your first is around 9 ish depending on when you wake up and your second is around 1 with Addison.  Your morning nap is 1 1/2 to 2 hours long and your afternoon is around 30-45 min.  When you wake from that I bring you into our room and nurse you and you sleep for another hour on me!  I love that time with you.  If you wake before Addison in the morning, I will nurse you and play with you until she wakes up.  It is such a sweet and pleasant way to start the day!

You tried rice cereal for the first time tonight at 6 months and 4 days!  You didn't seem to love it but I think you will come around.  We video taped it cause we wanted to document the same way we did with Addison.  The video turned out to be a little frustrating cause Addison became extremely ticked that the attention was on you.  She HATES me taking pictures of you!  She certainly needs to know that she is the center of attention.  We are working on that:)
This pic was a few weeks ago- we hadn't put you in the swing in awhile and I thought you might have outgrown it!  You certainly are ALOT bigger!  I had to have a pic of the last time you were in your swing!  By the way, when you were getting in it a lot, you were leaning over looking as if you were going to fall out.  Yeah, it's definitely time to pack it away.
As of yesterday we started weaning you of the swaddle.  You have been in the Miracle Blanket (so was Addison) and y'all love it!  We are weaning you the same way we did her and I believe you are handling it better!  We start with one arm out and let you get use to that idea for a few days then we will put you in the sleep sack.  Your naps were shorter today but they will get better once you get use to your new found freedom!
Your doctor appointment is tomorrow morning and I am excited to take you.  I love our doctor and I love hearing people Oooo and Gooo all over you!  I'm a Mom what can I say?  I have no idea how much you weigh or how tall you are.  I never really watch that stuff closely but I will be sure to write it on here when I get the info!
I want to remember some special things that I love right now......so here goes!  I am completely IN LOVE with your big, sweet eyes.  I could easily spend all day looking into them and talking with you.  You love to watch me closely and look back and forth between my eyes real fast.  It's like you don't want to miss anything.  I love the innocence and honesty.

Your Gummy Smile!  Need I say more?  I love that big gummy smile.  I know you will look precious with those 2 bottom teeth but I seriously want your sweet gums to stay like this forever!  You always take my fingers and chew on them as hard as you can.  I will make a little hook shape and you just go to town!

Ok, one of my absolute favorites.....Your sweet baby smell!  Some people make think it's silly- but a lot would understand.  You have the most delicious, intoxicating, sweet baby smell EVER!  I swear if I could bottle it up and sell it as a perfume I'd be a wealthy woman!

Your thighs!  Your chubby, yummy thighs!  AND your skin- the softest skin.  It's like squishy silk!  Does that make sense?  Only way I could think of describing it!  Oh to have skin like that again!
AND your cheeks!  Seriously, get a good look at those suckers.  They are so kissable!
Not sure about this
