Granny and Addison |
On March 15, 2011 my Granny went to be with Jesus. She passed away in her sleep one night and was very unexpected. I am happy knowing she is in Heaven knitting away and playing bridge like she always did with her friends. She was born on April 28, 1924 and was 86 years old. I have lots of memories at their house on Llanfair and am very thankful for my photographic memory! She and Papaw loved sitting outside on their back porch all day reading, knitting, talking on the phone, and watching the hummingbirds. I loved swinging on their swing during the summers and just listening to the grownups talk. It was always sticky, humid air but I loved it. Granny never missed a chance to see Addison and Melody. She knew when I was coming and would always drive up in her black caddilac ready to hand me a new sweater or blanket she knitted for the girls. She LOVED babies. She probably wished we would have more just so she could cuddle with them!
One day I was reading the obituary on the computer and Addison saw her picture and immediately yelled out, "Granny!" She then went on to say ,"Granny take her medicine?" You see, every time Addison went to their house she would watch Granny take her pills. It made me tear up a little but I smiled towards the end when I got to say ,"No baby, she is in Heaven now and no longer hurts or needs to take any medicine." AMEN! It just felt good to say that- to know there is no more pain or sickness. I know she is looking down on us and has been watching what has been happening for the past 3 months. I am glad she gets to view it from where she is because it has been very painful. Everything is wonderful now and Addison's recovery has been absolutely incredible and speedy but I am thankful she didn't have to go through it all. We love you Granny and miss you everyday!
